Never Let Past Failures Hold You Back
As a man walked past a group of elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by the sight of these massive creatures being held in place by nothing more than a small rope tied to their front legs. There were no chains or cages.
It was obvious that the elephants could break free at any moment, yet they didn’t.
Curious, he asked a trainer nearby why the elephants weren’t trying to escape.
“Well,” the trainer explained, “when they’re very young and much smaller, we use the same size rope to tie them. At that age, it’s enough to hold them. As they grow, they become conditioned to believe they can’t break free. They think the rope still holds them back, so they never try to escape.”
The man pondered this.
These elephants could easily free themselves at any time, but because they believed they couldn’t, they remained stuck exactly where they were.
